A Party in Pink!

Today is FringeGirl's Party in Pink for fellow bloggers to show our support of Breast Cancer.
According to her...

‘Party in Pink’ will be a celebration in honor of the women (friends, family, acquaintances) who are fighting or have fought a battle with breast cancer. I know several women who have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and are at the beginning of their battles.

Cancer is nothing new to my family. It has taken it's toll on several of my family members in it's many different forms, most commonly, Lung Cancer. I just recently found out that my MawMaw's sister passed away after having had a short bout with Breast Cancer. So, I dedicate this post to you Aunt Polly.

I remember being a youngster and getting to go spend the night/weekends with my Aunt Polly. She always had a bright smile, a joke, a story, and some gooood cooking ready for anyone who graced her doorstep. She would take me out and about in Gadsden where she lived, and treat me to, well, pretty much anything that we saw that we might want that day. She loved her family fiercely, and was mother hen to many a stray kid in her day. I believe that she is the person that instilled the "Mother Hen" gene into my own Mother. She was my Mother's favorite Aunt which, of course, raised her position greatly in my eyes too. I remember that her hands were knotty from arthritis, her smile was a little crooked, she let a bad word slip once in a while, and that she loved me. You've been gone from us for 26 years Aunt Polly, and I still miss you.

Locally, Birmingham has also been showing it's support for Breast Cancer by lighting up a couple of landmarks with Pink Lights...

Happenings...

I've been a bad blogger again... I've been sharing my life, but on a different venue. Yes, I have become addicted to Facebook. I've been in a farming frenzy, finding and getting back in contact with old friends from high school and elsewhere, and I've completely laid my blogging obligations aside for the past few months. This is where I would usually beg your forgiveness and make promises that I'll just not follow through with about being a better blogger... So, I'm going to skip all that and just tell you what I've been up to (besides Facebooking that is).

The Hubby is doing well in his endeavors to become a Master Mason, and will be doing his Fellowcraft lesson in a few weeks. Work is kind of up and down lately. Feast or Famine yanno. I did get to go home early one night last week which was a nice change. We'll just have to see how this weekend goes. Life otherwise has been good for the most part. The Fam is chugging on along with very few bumps in the road lately.

Last weekend was the 4th annual Crop 2 Help out at Springville Camp & Conference Center. There was Glitz and Glamour, Facials, Hand Spas, Fabulous Food, Friends that I've not seen in months, Cool Tees, and Good Times all around! I even got several pages done that I've been carrying pics around for, well, forever to do! Jerri certainly knows how to throw a Retreat! I can't wait till next October and the Crop 2 Help 5th Anniversary Retreat!

Have a Great Weekend All!

Busy Week...

It's been an interesting and busy week for me this week! I worked last Sunday - Tuesday nights which is Always interesting! On Wednesday, I made some cards for Hubby's Lodge (LOL! I never thought I'd "grow up" to be one of those women who's husband went to "Lodge"). Thursday I headed up to the "Mountian" for a visit with the folks and took Daddy to decorate his Daddy's grave Waaaay up in the wilds of DeKalb County. It was a great time to get caught up with Daddy and got to hear a few of his stories again. Friday morning was spent with Mama cleaning the teapots in one of her china cabinets then off to Lunch with Mary and Shan at the Yum Yum Tree... I've not eaten there in nearly 20 years! It was just as good as I remember! Then Home for dinner with Hubby and a little house work. Saturday, I got my hair all curly again... It was long over due! Now it's all bouncy and SHORT, well for me anyway! Last night it was time for some fun with a few buddies out at Zamora for some Roller Derby Action! Tragic City Rollers had a great bout with the girls from PCB! Those beach girls were Tough but our girls pulled out a 20+ point lead win! WOOHOOO! Finally today, I got to just hang out at home and be lazy, well, mostly... I did get some laundry done, and I've got some packing to do. After a morning of teaching CPR for me and a filling for Bill, we're heading off to Philadelphia, MS for a little fun at the Silver Star, and for Bill to meet up with one of his best buddies from High School. Now, that doesn't sound so strange except that they went to High School in Northeastern Wisconsin! Go figure! It should prove to be an interesting trip to say the least! I've met a few of his High School friends before and they were a hoot. Tom won't let me down, I just know it! LOL! All this, and home just in time to get the house and laundry done again before heading back to work on Thursday night. WHEW!

So, How has YOUR Week Been????

Hugs!

Charm

This morning I snuggled with my sweet little Charm for the last time. When I woke up this evening I found that he had passed away while I was asleep and dreaming of him playing with Teensy. I'm really going to miss my little buddy but I know he's in a better place now where he can romp and play and isn't bothered with that nasty cancer anymore. These were the last pictures I have of him from the other day when he felt like spending some quality window time with Teensy.

................................................................................
The Rainbow Bridge
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
